It's officially Back To School!

There are many mixed emotions about today. Some kids are excited, some are nervous, some are scared and some are just mad that the summer is over. The same with us parents. Some of us are excited to have the kids back at school and some are crying our eyes out. We want to partner with you to help your kiddos have a great school year. We will be sharing our weekly mat chat topics in the newsletter. In hopes that we can help you develop your child into a leader in there world.  Our mission at MKG Madison is to "Develop more peaceful and more functional people, for a more peaceful and more functional world." That starts with our kids!

All this month, we are talking about RESPECT. That word is hard to define. Here we define it as "Being thankful for who people are and what they do in our lives". The first topic for our Respect unit is how to show respect for those in authority. In class, we remind the students that the best way to do this is by being a "First Time Listener". That means listening to those that are in charge (like Parents, Teachers, Coach and Instructors) and following the instruction the very first time.

In class we explained how being a first time listener is not only good for those in charge, it is good for the kids also. Being a First Time Listener means that parents and teachers will not have to repeat themselves. so there will be no need to raise voices out of frustration, which makes a better day for everyone.

Let's help our kids to have a great school year by reminding them to be Fantastic First Time Listeners!

MKG 30 for 30

The MKG 30 for 30 Challenge is a MKG International initiative to encourage everyone to move with in their art for 30 mins every day for 30 days straight!

Your 30 for 30 can look like what ever you want. The goal is to develop a habit of individual movement for 30 mins non-stop everyday.

Do anything you know.

  • Footwork
  • Stick Drills
  • Shadow boxing
  • Heavy Bag Work
  • Ground movements
  • anything . . .  

You can do it at any pace you want, from hard and fast to get a heavy sweat or slow and meditative to clear you mind.

Just move!

Catalog your thoughts, changes and insights. Encourage others by posting updates of your MKG 30 for 30 journey  in the MKG Madison Community Facebook Page. Search and add #mkg30430 connect with other MKGers around the world!

You can start your challenge at anytime you want. So have already started! Josh will be talking about MKG 30 for 30 in class this week to help you get started on your own journey.

New Schedule Starts today!

Taking the next step.

We adding a new set of classes after each Kickboxing Essentials Class.

There will be a new kickboxing class that will "Focus" on the striking perspective of our focus classes. You will be able to get a great workout on the focus mitts/thai pads from a different perspective without the other aspects of the arts that may be intimidating.

Then after these classes there will be a class that will "Focus" on the study of the more detailed (and possibly intimidating) aspects of these arts.

These changes are being made to provide are a more clear and seamless path of development for those that are looking for it.

You are NOT required to take these paths. As always, training of martial arts is an "Intensely Personal Persute - Bruce Lee". You are welcome to attend whatever classes that you have interest and/or work with your rhythm of life.
