It has been a while. My bad. Anyway, we have some exciting news to share with you. Some of it you already know and some of it is hot off the presses.
Labor Day is upon us.
(I know. I just thought that summer was getting started.)
The gym will be closed this Monday, September 5th but, there will be classes this Saturday.
New Schedule Explanation
The basics of the new reorganization are that we have expanded the curriculum to help smooth out the development path and give students clearer guidance. We have added more Essentials Classes (in yellow), which focus on skills that will be needed throughout your development in that specific area of study. The Intermediate Classes (in orange) have been expanded to help smooth out the transition for a new student into the more detailed sophisticated areas within the art. The Advanced Classes (in red)are for those students that have dedicated themselves to this area. These classes will provide a challenge for even the most experienced students.
Questions about Testing
From past feedback, students have expressed discouragement in the amount of material that they are expected to know for testing. With the updated curriculum organization, there will be more frequent testing with more manageable testing requirements. This change should encourage students to progress through the curriculum of their choice with confidence.
Starting September, monthly testing dates will be clearly shown on the class schedule area of our website. HERE. Students will be able to see what curriculum is available for testing that month and register for it online.
Here is a quick overview of the new testing cycles:
Essentials Classes – Every Month
Intermediate Classes – Every 3 months (March, June, Sept., Dec.)
Advanced Classes – Every 4 months (April, August, Dec)
As we learn more about Zen Planner (our customer management system) you can look forward to a more streamlined integration of testing and progression through a member portal.
Throughout the month of September, Josh will be opening times for students to schedule one on one meetings (10-15 mins) to address your specific concerns with these changes. Stop by the desk or talk to Josh directly to schedule your time.
To facilitate these new and exciting changes and the future growth of MKG Madison, we need help.
You will see some familiar faces in some new roles around the gym.
Dan DeRubeis has joined the MKG Madison team as a new business partner. We are thankful to have Dan’s proven business experience to help MKG Madison get to the next level. He will be focused on researching, developing, and integrating new strategies that will grow MKG Madison’s business presence.
Tawny Morrison will be joining us to help out our social media and marketing presence. You may have seen some of her funny posts in our Private FB group. We are thankful to have her social media expertise to increase our reach and engagement with current and future students.
Kirk Stevens will also be joining the team to assist with perspective student enrollment and new student onboarding. Kirk will use his experience in sales and marketing to help put MKG Madison’s best foot forward as we welcome prospective students to the gym.
They all have a deep passion for the MKG Madison family. We are thankful for each of them, as they have taken on their perspective roles with the express interest in seeing MKG Madison reach it’s highest potential.
2nd Degree Silver Glove (highest rank in the united states) Professor Nicolas Saignac is an amazingly talented instructor. With a deep history of training and working with Guro Inosanto, Sensei Erik Paulson, and many other members of the global Kali/JKD family – Professor Saignac is the perfect person to reintroduce Savate to the MKG Family.
It’s finally happening. After being postponed for the last 2 years MKG International Conference is a go. All MKG students and family are invited to join us for a week in paradise. There will be daily training sessions to take your martial arts development to the next level followed by plenty of time to relax and enjoy all that Maui has to offer.
Due to most of our instructors attending this event MKG Madison will be closed from November 3rd – 13th.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and we will be back on November 14th ready to rock.
We look forward to seeing you all in classes this week! So get in here and get your reps in!
As always, we will be Training Safe, Training Hard and Having a ton of Fun!
Don’t miss out! See you at the gym!
