Muay Thai, JKD Kickboxing, and Filipino Weaponry and Mobility are cross-trained, with a heavy emphasis on developing quality body mechanics, basic self defense tools, and solid cardio conditioning. These attributes are essential for developing a well-rounded foundation to any martial art training.

Basic grappling, weapon defense, and close-range tactics are added to your Phase One foundation. These concepts will further your ability to internalize and implement your art as needed. In addition to expanding your understanding of the arts you are introduced to in Phase One, you will learn elements of Panantukan, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Shoot Wrestling, Combat Submission Wrestling, Indonesian Silat, and Wing Chun Kung Fu. Exciting and challenging, this class is a group favorite.
Focus Classes are classes that allow the student to dive deeper into a specific area of study. There are 3 different classes that are held once a week each: Kali (Filipino Weaponry), Jun Fan Martial Arts / JKD Concepts and Panantukan (Filipino Dirty Boxing).
Kali (Filipino Weaponry)
Mondays at 6:30 pm
The Filipino weaponry training covers a wide spectrum featuring impact weapons (such as a sticks) edged weapons(blade and knives) as well as flexible weapons and weapons of opportunity.
We at MKG, look at the study of weaponry primarily as a development tool that encourages improved balance, coordination and mental agility.
Weaponry training in our Kali program emphasize safety first. Movements are broken down into easily learned segments. You will be given the ability to perform techniques such as counters, disarms, sweeps and locks in flow.
Jun Fan Martial Arts/ JKD Concepts
Saturdays at 11:15 am
Lee Jun Fan was the Chinese given name of the late Bruce Lee, thus Jun Fan Martial Arts / Gung Fu. This is the base system of Jeet Kune Do. It has an established progression for learning. This system was founded by Sijo Bruce in Seattle Washington in 1964. Something that is important to note, is that techniques and concepts were “borrowed” in effort to use the strengths of other those arts to develop a well rounded practitioner.
Panantukan (Filipino “Dirty” Boxing)
Wednesdays at 6:30 pm
Panantukan is an empty hands aspect of the Filipino Martial Arts and is at its core a boxing art. It is different from the Western boxing that most are familiar with. In Panantukan you use every part of you body as a tool to strike just about every part of the opponents body. The fact that the Filipino martial arts are know for their skills with bladed weapons is seen in Panantukan as the movements mimick the movement of the blade. Some know this art by different names; Filipino Dirty Boxing, Suntakan, Pangamut, Mano-mano, to name a few. But they are all essentially the same art. The name, Panantukan, was given to this art (in the US) to avoid some confusion with other popular arts of that time.
